What We Do

Divorce

The decision to divorce your spouse is a life-changing event that should never be taken lightly. Many questions abound in this ultimate decision, and your life as you know it can feel like it is lurking in the balance.

Child Custody & Visitation

Separation and divorce are never easy, leaving you in fear of what may happen to you and to your children in this next phase.

Alimony & Spousal Support

We assist clients with seeking alimony, decreasing or increasing alimony payments, or terminating alimony. The amount, type and length of alimony are likewise left to the discretion of the Family Court.

Child Support

You are entitled to child support from the biological parent or adoptive parent of your child as long as your child is not emancipated under South Carolina law.

Adoptions

Interfamily adoptions are common when a family member seeks to adopt a child where one or both parents are deceased or are unable to provide stability for their child.

Modifications & Enforcement of Prior Court Orders

Once a final order is obtained, both parties have protections of the Family Court to enforce the terms of their order, including financial provisions, child support, alimony, and visitation.

Prenuptial Agreements

Many people want to enter a marriage without the threat of their assets being subject to division in the event of divorce. Others want to protect their assets for their own children.

Probate and Estate Litigation

We always want to believe that when our loved ones grow older, they will live peacefully and will pass on knowing that they have made successful arrangements for the disposition of their hard-earned assets.

LGBTQ

Whether married or not, we assist couples in obtaining joint legal custody orders, guardianship orders, and adoptions to solidify the family unit and to grant equal parenting rights to all parents.

Estate Documents

A Last Will and Testament is a written directive that disposes of your assets at death that do not otherwise have a beneficiary designation. For example, an asset with a beneficiary designation would be a life insurance policy or transfer on death account.

Cohabitation Agreements

The purpose of the agreement is to lessen the chance of conflict between you and your partner upon separation using a clearly defined agreement discussing how to divide your assets.

How a Court Appointed Sequestrator or Receiver Can Save a Family-Owned Business

Divorcing spouses who operate a business together that supports the family may not have their hands in every single aspect of the business.
